Forms to Java

Forms in2j automatically migrates your Oracle Forms code into the Java™ language ready for immediate deployment to a J2SE/ Swing platform. This tried and tested Java technology provides a stable, reliable foundation for your mission-critical applications.

You can also use Oracle's JDeveloper to maintain and extend the migrated Java-Forms using a high level 'screen painting' interface, similar to the original Forms 4GL environment but with greatly enhanced capabilities. Your Java-Forms also provide a stepping-stone for smooth transition, in your own time, to Oracle ADF, Oracle's preferred Java environment.

What we do

We

• recreate your Forms application on our own hardware and follow through its proper operation;
• run the Forms code through the Forms in2j migration engine
• install the migrated Java-Forms on our hardware and verify their correct operation;
• return the Java-Forms to you for approval.

What we need

In order to migrate your Forms code you will need to provide us with the following:

• Forms module binaries (.fmb files)
• menu module binaries (.mmb files)
• PL/SQL libraries (.pll files)
• object library binaries (.olb files)
• a working database, either as SQL / PL/SQL scripts or as a binary dump (.dmp) file
• screenshots of transactions in a PDF or MS Word document, with explanatory text.

Supported versions

We support as standard migrations from Forms 6i, 9i and 10g. As for older but (in their day) popular releases of Forms such as 2.3, 3, 4.0, and 4.5, we will be pleased to work with you on your migration project. This may involve on-site visits as we may not have our own working versions of older releases on compatible hardware. Please contact us with your enquiry.
